I just wanted to encourage everyone to try to come to the camp out April 25-28 at Bovay Scout Ranch. Bovay is a really nice scout camp. It has real bathrooms and showers. It is also close enough that you can run home if you forgot something ( or if you decided overnight camping is not for you). They have hiking trails and bikes are welcome. I’ve not been fishing there, but there is a lake. You don’t have to stay both nights, or you can just come for the day if you don’t want to camp overnight.
Bovay is set up a little different than Fort Parker. Instead of individual camp sites for a couple tents, each camp site can hold a bunch of tents so we will be camping in the same area. It will be much cozier and it is a lot easier to visit with each other. Each site has a covered area with picnic tables under it and there is one fire pit, water faucet and electric plug.
We will be cooking our own food, so this would be a good chance to get together with your den to plan a den meal together. As long as there is no burn ban in effect, we should be able to have a campfire in the firepit. I think we also may be planning on have a flag burning ceremony. We may have some den lead fun activities, and we may try to earn a belt loop or two.
